The south of Malta is less popular for dive boats but excellent dive sites can be found in the south as well.

This part of Malta is not the most crowded region for diving. Most boats go northeast to Marfa Point, Gozo and Comino. However, there are enough dive shops to rent equipment and to book a tour to some of the wrecks in the south. Diving around Valetta, diving at Sliema Bay, it can all be arranged here in the beautiful settings of South Malta. Many divers choose to rent a car and bring their own equipment as most dives are shore dives. It is easy to find the dive sites and you will save quite a lot of money this way.
Malta is however not only a great holiday vacation because of its diving. The capital Valetta is full of old houses which create a very pretty and ancient harbour. Valetta has been called a World Heritage City, a Fortress City and is without doubt one of the top cities of Europe. Tourists will be amazed by its architectural buildings, cultural monuments, shopping, entertainment and nightlife. Other highlights are visiting its many churches, forts, palaces, piazzas and theatres. Enjoy its Mediterranean excellent seafood and buy some handicrafts for back home.
Although it is not the most popular place for diving there still are quite a few good dive sites to be found in southern Malta. In the bays of Valetta we have the famous HMS Maori, known for helping cracking the Bismarck code, and the MV Odile. In the southeast you can dive at an aircraft named the Blenheim Bomber and several with coral encrusted Tugboats near Zonqor Point. It is a bit less touristy which makes it for many adventurous divers an even better place to do some diving.
