Clearly marked on the nautical chart 974 Valletta harbours, located just inside the break water are the twin wreck of the HMS Jersey, a destroyer sunk 2nd May 1941, and the Dutch merchant navy ship MV or SS Talabot sunk in an air raid very close to the wreck of the Jersey on 26th March 1942. Both wrecks have had clearance work done on them, first in 1973 and then again in 1985. What remains are the scattered remains of the structure of these ships, indeed it is now impossible to tell which wreckage belongs to which ship.

Diving in this part of the harbour can be very dangerous, and you need permission from the harbour master before diving here. Only the wreckage is interesting on this dive site.

Hi, The wreck is not the MV Talabot. The Talabot (Norwegian registry, owned by Wilh. Wilhelmsen) was loaded ammunition when it was sunk. She was raised in 1949 and scuttled in deep water.
