From the left of Zurrieq you follow the reef all the way to the blue grotto. It is quite far so if you don't feel like a long and dangerous surface swim it is better to make a giant stride entry from the boat. There are actually many caves and holes in the reef in this area, all to be found just outside the bay at the western side along the cliff wall. Only enter and surface in the designated areas as there are many boats dropping and picking up tourists that visit the blue cave.

Together with Cirkewwa it is one of the main tourist destinations of the island. But not only for diving as the rocks above the blue grotto host some of the most spectacular cliff adventures possible. Getting there is often done by crossing the rock bottomed valley especially good at night when hermit crabs, orange shrimp and sea stars show all their tricks. Continue and you can make a small visit to the Bell Tower Cave with its three entrances. The deepest one is at 27 meter but be careful for throwing up sediment as it will reduce visibility drastically. The caves are spacious enough for 2 to 3 divers and thousands of cardinal fish. Heading up through its chimney and getting out through the slits in the reef wall. Another cave in the area is named the Mouse-Hole Cave because of its narrow entrance. On your way back you can dive next to a steep wall with marine life such as goatfish, saupe, Turkish Wrasses and painted comber. Further to shore is an area named the Aquarium of course because of its amount and diversity of fish life.
